I've had the Bergelmir for 3 seasons now. Mine was bought in the origional Polartech fabrich so this review is for the older version of the jacket. It's only just coming to the end of it's life after 3 hard winter's working on the Scottish mountains. The fit is brilliant for me and very comfortable. Quality materials. Well designed. Great hood that adjusts well and fits well. The pockets are roomy enough for a map and gloves, etc. Always a feature I look for in a hardshell. Very breathable material and great in wild, snowy conditions. Look forward to seeing the improvements in the new laminate. Service from these guys is always fast and helpful. Top marks.
Just back from a few days late summer alpine climbing in Arolla & bought the Bergelmir just before I left. Our second day out from the Dix hut was pretty griz with all other groups turning back on the lower slopes of the Pigne D'Arolla so it was time to test the jacket: it was awesome! It felt lightweight, flexible (almost like a soft shell), super-breathable and above all I stayed dry. When we got above the rain and the temperature dropped I kept it on as a wind & snow-proof outer layer & only took it off as we descended & the sun came out. Best jacket I've owned by far.
Bought the Bergelmir 3 months ago. This is by far the best shell I've ever used. It is made of burly fabric which will hold up to tons of abuse for years and at the same time this does not affect the breathability at all. In fact, it breathes way more than other lighter shells I've owned. Most may think twice considering the price, but I believe that this is a fair price for such a solid product. Really glad to have gone with this shell. I own a Fenrir, Erling & an Uller, they work great with each other. Overall I think Jottnar products stand out in terms of quality and function it is evident their products have been made for the harshest environments.
As a professional landscape, travel photographer i needed a waterproof jacket to protect me from the harsh elements i find myself in, wether its Snow, Wind or rain. This is by far the best waterproof jacket i have ever owned.
Purchased this with the Vanir salopettes for everything from the morning commute to skiing. After two months I can say that the quality, design, fit and function is excellent. Freedom of movement without flapping about in high winds, completely waterproof and far less sweaty when working hard. Neoshell is as good as they claim. No signs of wear despite some tumbles skiing and daily use.
