Very comfortable warm mid layer

Bought this as an experiment to see how it would perform as a midlayer over a merino base layer and Under a shell jacket. It turned out to be ideal for skiing in the 0 to -10 degrees C which was exactly what I wanted it for. It seems to be well designed And made - on a par with my arcteryx gear. It is ideally something to be worn all day as it doesn’t pack down particularly well for storage in a rucksack.

Great looking top with some minor issues

This is a great looking top which looks fantastic in Nightshadow. The material is soft and nice to the touch. I like the embroidered logo on the front and back of the collar.

Some issues I have found are that the sleeves are excessively long. When the thumb loops are not in use the material bunches up a lot and I've had to roll them up at the cuff. The fit is not as athletic as suggested by the pictures, being slightly looser (I'm guessing to allow for a base-layer underneath). My Hemming also differed slightly from the picture in that the inside of the collar is a much darker grey than what is shown here (the material looks different too). A small issue but having paid a lot for this I expected to receive the same design as the website!

Falls a short of expectations

I hate to fly in the face of all these 5 star reviews, but I have to be honest about my impressions. My 3 star rating is based primarily on problems associated with fit, appearance and cost.
As far as the Hemming is concerned, I will keep it, but it will not be a favorite go-to item for me.

Fit and appearance:
On the plus side, I appreciate the easy on/off that the elasticity and deep front zipper allows.
On the minus side, once it's on there is excess material around the chest area. It's not the fitted look that it appears to be on the website picture. I am 5'9", 160 lbs. with an athletic/muscular build. I ordered a size "medium" as I have always worn a medium or a large in tops. I never wear a small. I expected the medium would fit more snugly than it does in the chest area, given that it can stretch to layer something underneath if needed.
I appreciate the thumb loops and fully expect that the sleeves will need to be a bit longer than usual with that feature, but these sleeves are a good 4" longer than needed even when the thump loops are being used. When pulled down to full extension they reach my fingertips, which means that when placed as normal at the wrist the excess material is all bunched up.
The elasticity causes the sleeves to twist when the top is put on. They have to be untwisted to fit and look right. This is especially difficult and unpleasant when there is a layer underneath and you have to avoid twisting that layer as you untwist the Hemming sleeves.

So far, I've had no issues with function, as the Hemming seems to work fine as a solo layer, and I suspect will also be fine functionally as a base layer or under a shell. But at $150 for a top, I expect excellence in appearance, fit and function. Unfortunately, this item falls short in appearance and fit for me.
